American Revolution: Saratoga

April 24, 2009

1777.  Over this 18-day battle, 6,000 British soldiers surrendered.  The attack began when commander John Burgoyne began moving troops.  Benedict Arnold began moving more his way, and the Americans caught into the whole act.  Soon, it was a battle-it-out.  18 days later, Burgoyne and 6, 000 men surrendered.

American Revolution: First Fire

April 21, 2009

Bang!  It’s here!  The Shot Heard Round The World has been fired!  A new war has begun.  The Minutemen come running into battle at Lexington.  Later they will move on to Concord.  At this point, the rebels have only a small amount of men to battle with.  But still, the fight moves on.  While the fight rolls on, rebels and redcoats plan strategies to win the war.  How?  Maps are becoming reliable, and they are pretty much the only means of strategy planning.  Heres one from my file: HISTORICAL MAPS.

Lots'o land!

Lots'o land!

The shot rang out, the war started, okay.  Next battle, Saratoga meets soldiers!

American Revolution: March Massacre

April 21, 2009

March 5th, 1770.  A war shall begin this evening.  At first it is silent.  A british sentry is harassed.  He walks off, but returns later with friends.  Then the battle begins.  Villagers start tossing snowballs at the sentry and his companions.  A mob forms, and so forth the Revolutionary War begins.  In the midst of the battle, 5 men are killed.  Here is Henry Pelham’s depiction of the events.  It was engraved by Paul Revere.

To war!

To war!

With that, a war begins.  Next time, the Minutemen come running after the Shot Heard Round The World.

Mystery Hunters: Wolf-Myth

April 18, 2009

The final buildup of Mystery Hunters, and it’s cryptozoology!  The creature: Amarok.  An Inuit creature, the creature is said to be a wolf-human hybrid.  It is said to have a ravenous appetite.  Not something you’d like to meet on Elm Street!   I’d take that claw-guy any day!  Next chain of entries: follow the clock back about 400 years or so, give or take a few years.  We’ll see the course of history change as our lives change.  And if we didn’t win the war we’ll be viewing, well, cheerio!
