The Case of the Columbian Mammoth

“I did it!”, said John Hartman, an established liar and cheater.  “I found an extinct Columbian Mammoth!”  Pro. Lodger rushed over to Hartman’s farm.  Inside the barn was a huge, shaggy mammoth.  “I was walking in the  woods, when a heard a loud trumpeting.  And then I found this guy!”  “Odd”, said Lodger.  “This isn’t a Columbian Mammoth.

 

What gave the elephant away?

Answer: Columbian Mammoths were hairless.  The “mammoth” was shaggy, remember?
