18 Metro Rides Day 4: Cloudy With a Chance of Elephants
Today was pretty darn good, for one main reason: THE WEATHER WAS UNBELIEVABLE. It wasn’t gorgeous or anything, but for the most part, it was cool and breezy and just about anything except for hotter than Drogon’s breath, and if you get that, you are awesome. Also, we saw some great stuff.
For instance, today marked the debut of Bozie, an Asian elephant that I thought was a baby, but apparently isn’t. She came up from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and apparently may have once lived with another one of the zoo’s elephants as calves in Sri Lanka. We also spent a bit of time at the American Trail, which is pretty much the closest exhibit area to our classroom in Amazonia, other than the Kids Farm. There, we saw wolves, seals and sea lions, and pelicans.
And to cap it all off, we had RAIN! Granted, we’ve had rain here before this week, but not at the zoo itself, which was about as close to an answered prayer as I can get. To escape the rain, we retreated into the indoor panda exhibit, where one of the pandas was relaxing and eating (I’ll give you three guesses as to what). So, we had some great weather, and saw some great stuff. Unfortunately, since H and J were out, I was once again Khal Raggat. However, since the joke is getting old, this post isn’t called Khal Raggat III: The Search for H and J.
